We had a couple days free and decided to give this open competition for a new yacht club facility on Lake Ullswater a go.
Three days later we had developed a simple approach to the requirements of the brief with a subtle approach to the site. Our experience from designing other buildings within the Lake District National Park meant our approach to materiality, scale and form was understated.
The building deals with flood levels by creating a tanked stone base with lightweight timber structure above. Open views to the lake are offered by a large panorama window which is protected by the overhanging copper roof. |
